The Pre-screening of "Queen of Katwe"

Good morning everyone!

I hope everyone is having an awesome Monday! Yes, that's right. Let's greet the week!

Let's also recap a little on our last week's festivities.

On Wednesday we met up at Harkins at Tempe Market Place.  We got to opportunity to

participate in the pre-screening of "Queen of Katwe".

What a treat it was to see the film right before its official release, FOR FREE!

For those that are not familiar, it is based on William Wheeler's screenplay. The film

captures the life of Phiona Mutesi, a young chess prodigy from Uganda who aspires to

become a World Chess Champion.

The film stars David Oyelowo, Madina  Nalwanga and Lupita Nyong0. Tendo Nagenda, who

is the senior creative executive of Walt Disney Studios, developed and produced the film.

Interesting fact, he also is of Ugandan background.

From listening to feedback from our members, the film really did a good job capturing

both the magic and adversity to Phiona's story.

Looks like a good time!  Let's enjoy more movie going in the future!

"She is now an icon in the whole country"
