24th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
It's Sunday evening, and I'm guessing a lot of folks are watching the Presidential debate about now. Regardless of your opinion or views, hopefully this post will help you recharge from all of that stress. Phew!
It's October! The official breast cancer month! The weather is cooling down and people are coming alive. There's a lot of pink to be worn and marathons to be had. It's a fabulous month of productivity and awareness! Our ladies met downtown today at 7am for the 24th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Unlike our last event, Walk for Wishes, there was a registration fee of $35. This isn't a bad thing though, because the ALL proceeds (net) that went to this event are allocated. Yes, ALL the Proceeds! That's very unusual and very cool!
So exactly where do those proceeds go to?
They go to increasing access to screening and treatments, providing education on breast health, supporting cancer survivors, community outreach and of course funding treatments and screenings. Bonus! 75 percent of the proceeds stay in the state of Arizona. What great way to aide and fund efforts within our community, our state, our county!
Great job all! keep up the good work BWTR!!!
